New 'The Batman' Poster Shows Pattinson's Dark Knight Rising From the Dark
A long awaited movie
Despite some reluctance among viewers when Warner announced that Robert Pattinson would play Gotham's Dark Knight, a trailer will have been needed for that Batman stands out as one of the most exciting movies of 2022.
Dark, wild, the trailer promised a film that could make the cross between spectators who are fans of great shows and the most demanding moviegoers. Also to say that the batman was eagerly awaited is a pure understatement!
For our part, we were eagerly awaiting this new feature film. First as moviegoers, curious about the options of Robert Pattinson, who has been operating during Cosmopolis by David Cronenberg a truly fascinating mutation with particularly daring roles, especially in The Tramp by David Michod and The Lighthouse by Roberto Egger.
Then, as journalists, keep an eye on the evolution of superhero productions, and in particular how Warner Bros. attempts to continue the legacy of Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy, between two DC Extended Universe movies.
Fincher's Batman
the batman so tell me the investigation led by the Dark Knight in the streets of Gotham to discover the identity of a new serial killer, The Riddler, who assassinates one by one the great corrupt scholars who control the city. To aid him in investigating him, Batman can count on the support of James Gordon and Selina Kyle.
All of the filmmakers tackling the Batman mythology seem to have a particular interest in one dimension of the superhero and Gotham. Thus, in Batman and Batman, the challenge, Tim Burton has turned Gotham into a kind of gothic circus, in which a man dressed as a bat faces some monsters (monsters).
Hence the extremely theatrical side of the antagonists of the two films of the beetlejuice director. For his part, like our wide-screen companions, Christopher Nolan's Batman has a very Bondian side. The opening scene of The Dark Knight with this heist inspired by Michael Mann's Heat speaks volumes about the British filmmaker's goals.
Finally, Zack Snyder's The Batman, although a little aged, seems made to face monsters from other galaxies, including Superman. The result is an all-muscle Batman, whose psyche is ultimately uninterested.
Inside the batman, Matt Reeves re-invokes a sadly oft-forgotten dimension of Gotham's Dark Knight: he's the world's greatest detective. Although he's a formidable fighter and uses various gadgets, Batman's greatest weapon is his wits.
In this way, Matt Reeves never forgets his subject (Batman's investigation of the Riddler), and summons the specter of Fincherian thrillers to flesh out his universe.
Already, as he had announced before the film's release, the Riddler is heavily inspired by the Zodiac Killer, whose story was told by David Fincher in Zodiac. Next, in Todd Philipps's Joker, the streets of Gotham recalled the New York of Martin Scorsese's Taxi Driver, in Batman they echo those of Se7en. It's the same dirty, rain-lashed streets, the same rotten, scribbled apartments.

However, Matt Reeves manages to breathe a gothic dimension into this Gotham almost always filmed at night, playing with the shadows as well as with the excess and symmetry of the architecture, in particular that of Wayne Tower.
Matt Reeves, who had already shown his talent as a filmmaker in Clover Field and in both parts of Planet of the Apes that he has made, shows once again that he knows how to handle his camera very well and draw his plans. .
Of all the movies about the Caped Crusader, the batman is possibly the most visually beautiful centric movie, some shots resembling paintings. In addition, although this feature film is at the crossroads of thriller and film noir, Matt Reeves does not forget that Batman is also a superhero, and therefore does not hesitate to iconize him in the best possible way.
We think in particular of this scene, revealed in the trailer, in which The Penguin watches, upside down in his overturned car, as Batman slowly advances towards him, a curtain of flames behind him.
While critics could criticize Christopher Nolan for not knowing how to film the action scenes of The Dark Knight trilogy, these scenes work wonderfully well in Batman. Instead of multiplying the cuts as his British counterpart would have done, Reeves usually shoots them in a static shot, as in the first scene in which the masked hero appears ..
